Mentawai Tribe Experience Tour

Day 1: Padang-Siberut Island
06.30 : Pick up hotel in Padang and then drive to Muara Port.
07.00 : Sail from Muara Port Padang to Siberut Island by fast ferry. Will take about 4 hours ride.
11.00 : Upon arrival at northern part of Siberut Island, Sikabaluan, and then take a rest and lunch at a local restaurant there.
12.00 : Transfer to South Siberut Island, Mailepet Harbor
13.30 : Upon arrival at Mailepet Harbor then transfer to Government village
14.00 : Take a rest and enjoy tea at Government village
14.30 : Sail about 90 minutes by motor canoe along the river of Siberut Jungle
15.30 : Upon arrival at Dorougot Jungle Area and then trek about 60 minutes to Mentawai Village.
17.00 : Meet and greet with Mentawai Tribe Family, who will become your host
19.00 : Dinner and Overnight with host family.

Day 2: Mentawai Tribe Village
08.00 : Breakfast
10.00 : Explore the jungle and have a visit at another Mentawai clan and you will join the tribe activity with Mentawai Shaman.
12.00 : Lunch with Mentawai Family
14.00 : Engage with local family to process sagou, the traditional food of the tribe.
17.00 : Free program
20.00 : Dinner with the host family
21.00 : Cultural exchange with the shaman

Day 3: Explore The Jungle
08.00 : Breakfast
09.00 : Trekking to the jungle and visit another family clan
11.00 : meeting another Mentawai Tribe family
12.00 : Lunch
13.00 : Join Mentawai Shaman and observe how to make Mentawai Traditional clothing
15.30 : Trekking back to the host family
17.30 : Free program
20.00 : Dinner with the host family

Day 4: Mentawai Village-Padang
08.00 : Breakfast
10.00 : Sail back by motor canoe to Government village
11.30 : Arrival at Government village
12.00 : Transfer to Mailepet Harbor and lunch at Local restaurant
15.00 : Sail back to Siberut to Padang
18.30 : Arrival Padang and transfer to hotel. End of service

Important Note:
– The tour is not an easy journey due to the nature of Mentawai tribe remote living area. The tour involves trekking and there is no internet or phone signal in the area.
– On the rainy season the trek can be quite difficult because of the mud.
– The tour participants will live like Mentawai Tribe, without electricity, running water and sleeping on the floor.
