Lesan River is located at the border of Berau regency and it streams through Menggeliat Limestone Mountain. This area is least travelled by travellers. Dayak Tribe Lesan is the sub of the Kayan Tribe. Along the limestone mountain some Dayak tibe hamlet can be found. Lesan is covered by primary forest and has been home to orangutan and other wildlife such as proboscis monkeys, sun-bears, leaf monkeys, and leopards. This trip will take you to foremost experience of Dayak Culture and tropical rainforest wildlife.
Day 1: BERAU-MERASA (D)
You will be picked up at Berau Airport and then drive approximately 1 hour to Merasa Dayak Kenyah hamlet. At the hamlet you can explore and observe the mesmerizing tribal design of Dayak tribe which is inspired by jungle life. Dinner at local restaurant. Overnight at guesthouse.
Day 2: MERASA-LESAN RIVER- LESAN DAYAK (B,L,D)
After having simple breakfast at guesthouse and then river cruising through the jungle along Lesan River and enroute you can enjoy the scenery and wildlife and as well passing by Bawan Island which is known as orangutan island. Cruide further to Dayak Lesan hamlet and lunch en route. Arrival at the hamlet and then explore the village and start jungle trekking inside the pristine primary forest of Lesan to search for Orangutan and other faunas. Return to Lesan hamlet, dinner and rest.
Day 3: LESAN DAYAK HAMLET- LESAN RIVER (B,L,D)
After having simple breakfast at local house, and then trek to forest for another searching for wildlife and orangutan. Afterwards sail upstream of Lesan River by motorized canoe for approximately 2 hours to limestone forest. During the river cruising you can observe the river banks vegetation and spotting birds and wildlife. Passing Dayak Grave. Lunch enroute. Short trek to limestone forest and then return to Lesan Dayak hamlet. Dinner and Rest.
Day 4: LESAN DAYAK- BERAU (B,L)
After breakfast at local house and then free program subject your departure time. Drive by 4Wd about 1 hour to main road. And then drive 3 hours to Berau Airport. End of service.
ABOUT THE ACCOMODATION
You will be staying with locals, it is a back to basic stay experience. Simple mattress and cold water shower. Electricity is available only in the evening from 6pm to 10 pm.
