OVERVIEW:
This full day tour will take you to see proboscis monkey and orangutan, two of the indigenous species from Kalimantan Island. The morning visit to Mangrove forest will give you the unforgettable experience for its cool air, fresh atmosphere, warm golden sunrise and as well shy the proboscis monkey observation. ITINERARY:
Pick up at 05.00 at your hotel in Balikpapan and then drive about 30 mins to Mangrove Center area. Meet the boat driver and then start sailing the Somber River. You will sail slowly and get mesmerized by the tranquility and the beauty of the mangrove forest. If you are lucky you will see crocodile during your visit. Boat driver will take you to the mysterious narrower river and stop engine there where you can hear the sound of the jungle clearly. Observe proboscis monkey from boat. Return to pier and then drive about 1.5 hours to Bengkirai Hill where you will have soft trekking through secondary forest and observe some big trees. Walk though 25 meters high suspension bridge. And then drive to Samboja. Lunch. After lunch visit sun bear sanctuary , which is the biggest sun bear sanctuary in the world. Visit the tower of Samboja to see the panorama of the forest from above. And then plant tree. At 15.00 start orangutan observation at the man made island.
