This megalithic site is located in Sukoliman Village II, Bejiharjo, Karangmojo, Gunung Kidul, Jogja. The site was built from prehistoric period, constitutes of menhir, menhir fragment, and wall of dolmen. Beads, iron equipments, earthenware and bronze items were also found here. The authority revamped and collected the items that are scattered. Local people call the site as “Kuburan Budho” or ancient cemetery.
In Megalithic periode, menhir was a manifestation of a deceased public figure and as a worship media toward ancestor spirit. The megalithic culture of Sokoliman has its uniqueness on the menhir, that the upper part was carved a human face.
Menhir was found in Sokoliman, the stone was estimated to be a worship media, a symbol of power or certainof event, such as war. There are 140 stones, and 5 of them are bigger than others, and the are called as Saka Lima, means 5 pillars. Saka Lima was from which Sukoliman name from. In the vicinity of the site found a white statue (limestone statue).
Now the site covers 200 m square and has not yet been well developed for tourism. The visitors, so far mostly academics and students.
