Mt Bromo is one of the most interesting landscape in Indonesia and one of its kind in the world. Mt Bromo itself located in Bromo Tengger National Park located in East Java and apart of 5 regencies, namely : Malang, Pasuruan, Probolinggo and Lumajang. The common entrances to Mt Bromo are Probolinggo and Pasuruan.
Mt Bromo (2.392 m) stands in the middle of 10 KM diameter of caldera and surrounded by Mt Penanjakan (2700 m). The average temperature in Bromo is 7° – 18° C. The latest eruption of this volcano was on November 2010 until April that the government officially closed Bromo for tourists and stated alert status or radius 2 KM from Bromo. House of Sampoerna Museum is located in the middle of of Surabaya city. It is accessible by public transportation in the city. House of Sampoerna was an orphanage in Dutch colonial era and change its function as cigarettes factory after bought by Liem Seeng Tee, the founder of Sampoerna and further this factory grew bigger and stronger.
The museum plant was used as museum since 2003, while the complex is now still functioning as factory. Museum displayed the belonging of the founder of Sampoerna and also displayed the history of the company. At the third floor where you could not take photograph, you can see the atmosphere of cigarettes factory where women roll and pack cigarettes in an unbelievable speed using traditional equipment. Madakaripura Fall is located in Probolinggo and it is right on the way to Mt Bromo, where you just need to turn right where the sign of the location stand. It is just 5 Km from Sukapura.The road is easy to access though it get narrower when reaching further.
Ijen crater is located in the eastern part of East Java. Administratively located in Bondowoso and Banyuwangi Regency. This crater is standing among other mountains such as the active Mt Raung (3,332 M), Mt Suket, Mt Pendil. You can reach from Banyuwangi or Bondowoso. Road to Ijen from Banyuwangi is considered as very bumpy that you will need a 4×4 transport.If you are from Surabaya you can access from Bondowoso as it is closer and road is not that steep and better than via Banyuwangi.
This green tosca crater lake lies hidden in the bottom of a giant bowl of Ijen Plateau summit, with depth of 200 m, and known as the biggest acid crater in the world with PH of 0.5. To get to this beautiful crater, you need to trek for 3.5 KM from Paltuding to the crater rim with steep mountain track. Once you arrive on the crater rim your hardship is worth effort.
